My name is Edith Parten and I am a Public Relations professional who is an ordinary person writing about my everyday adventures along with some daily useless fact or trivia thrown in every now and then so I can look like I know things.
I started this blog at the suggestion of my physical therapists Nadia Jones and Lauren Buckelew with Physiolete Therapy and Performance in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It seems Nadia and Lauren loved hearing about my adventures and countless inundations of useless facts and trivia. They told me that my stories and musings were interesting, and that I should start a blog. Lauren even suggested that I call it “Everyday Edith.” So here I am. I hope to share something that will impact the lives of my followers. At least I will have two subscribers thanks to Nadia and Lauren.
So you ask, why was I needing PT? I have vertigo caused by loose crystals in my inner ear and I also have both bursa removed from my hip area, and I have back issues. Stay tuned for a future blog about my PT.
A little more about me…I am a Public Relations professional with experience in broadcast media, higher education and tourism. I consider myself an ordinary person writing about everyday adventures along with some daily weird or useless trivia thrown in every now and then so I can look like I know things. For example, did you know that doctors have found tumors in human bodies that have hair and teeth. It’s true, Google it.
I have experience in broadcast media, higher education and tourism, so you’ll find me writing about these things. I am an undergrad of the University of Alabama so I could be writing about football. Roll Tide! And I graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Communication in 2019. I plan to write about things I love like gardening, food, travel, SEC football, media, public relations, marketing and whatever else crosses my mind.
Blah, blah, blah…some self-bragging below.
I started out in radio news reporting, then moved to television where I worked in news, promotion and marketing. I was the Director of Communications at the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce. I was the editor of Executive Magazine, the alumni magazine for UA’s business school. My other experience in PR includes positions at Alabama Tourism and the Alabama Department of Education. I even worked at the Joint Information Command (JIC) in Mobile during the Gulf Coast Oil Crisis.
Some of the television stations where I have worked include KIRO TV in Seattle, WAAY and WAFF in Huntsville, Alabama, WSFA 12 in Montgomery, and I have freelanced at WTTG in D.C. and WSB in Atlanta.
I am proud to have won Gold and Silver PROMAX awards, PRCA Awards of Excellence, numerous ADDY Awards, and I received nominations for NATAS (EMMY) Awards.
I received my Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) in 2012. I am a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and the Public Relations Council of Alabama (PRCA).
I would be honored if you followed my blog.
