Out Like a Lion, In Like a Lamb

“Out Like a Lion, In Like a Lamb” is typically a proverb used to describe the transition from winter to spring, but I think it’s the perfect analogy for how we experienced the transition to the new year in North Alabama and probably many other areas of the U.S. this past weekend.

As we ushered in the new year here in North Alabama, we experienced 78-degree temperatures, tornadoes and snow all within a 24-hour period. On January 2, 2022, we experienced some of the warmest temperatures on record, a tornado and severe weather during the day, followed by plummeting temperatures and snow in the evening. So, it’s not a stretch to say 2021 went “out like a lion “and 2022 came “in like a lamb.”

This morning, January 3, 2022, beautiful snow blankets the area with temperatures in the low 30s. As I stepped outside this morning I was welcomed by nature to these peaceful, frigid, beautiful snow-covered landscapes.

What’s up?

I threw on my coat and boots and grabbed my phone to take photos before the snow starts melting. I was in luck, the snow wasn’t going anywhere anytime soon, but I knew temperatures would climb and it would start melting by the afternoon. My weather app showed the temperature at 31 degrees with a feels-like temp of 22. I’m not a cold weather person so I needed to make my trip outdoors brief.

So, here are a few more photos and videos from my brave adventure outside in the frigid temperatures.
