Looking for something to put you in the holiday spirit? In search of some family fun? Seeking an experience to create holiday memories? If you answered yes to any of these questions, it’s definitely time to visit Huntsville Botanical Garden’s Galaxy Of Lights.
This display is so spectacular that USA Today named the Galaxy of Lights one of the Top Ten Best Botanical Garden Holiday Lights in 2020. I rate it a “must-see” if you live within a two-hour drive from Huntsville, Alabama. And it’s definitely worth a stop if you are traveling in the area for the holidays.

In its 26th year, the Galaxy of Lights continues to wow with its 2.5-mile-long journey of dazzling displays, animations and illuminations. From dinosaurs and trains to elves and Santa himself, you’re sure to find something to put a twinkle in your eye at this extravagant show of lights.

The Garden offers driving and walking tours; however, in December, tours are limited to driving. November is open for walking and you can even take your furry friends on select nights of the walking tours, so keep this in mind for next year. I opted for the December driving experience from the toasty confines of my car with my family and fur-baby. It takes about one hour if you take your time, but can be longer when it’s really busy.
The photos in this blog were taken during a driving tour with my iPhone so they may not be the best quality. If you plan on taking high quality photos you should opt for the walking tour. Hopefully you can get a feel for the experience with the few photos and videos.
If you want to catch the show—pick a night, get your tickets ahead of time online, load the family in the car and enjoy the show. The driving tour is available through January 1, 2022.
